mosheikh January 16, 2006 January 16, 2006 I have had my ph monitor for about 5 months now, and I need to get new calibration fluids. Do I need to get both ph 4 and ph 7 or do I just need ph 7? I forgot how I calibrated it before, do I just put the meter in ph 7 and calibrate it til it goes to 7.0? Thanks, -Mohsin
flowerseller January 16, 2006 January 16, 2006 I use both 7 and 10 and calibrate it accordingly. Some may differ on this method.
bededog January 16, 2006 January 16, 2006 Do you have the manual that came with it? If it allows for a one point calibration then you will only need the 7 but you will typically get better readings with a two point calibration. You want to calibrate with buffer solutions that are above and below the ph value of the solution that you want to test. Since you are probably measuring a pH in the 7.5-8.5 range, go with the 7 and 10. Just in case you don't have the manual, you should calibrate with the 7 first and then the 10, or at least that is typically the way it is done. I use both 7 and 10 and calibrate it accordingly. Some may differ on this method. 50218[/snapback]
HowardofNOVA January 16, 2006 January 16, 2006 Mohsin, If you have access to a few test tubes with rubber stoppers. After mixing the solution up, put excess into the tubes for future use. Been using the same solution for a couple of years and works great. I got my setup from Andre, scientist who worked at NIH, said quality would be the same. The solutions integrity would not be comprimised over time. FWIW. Howard
