wardragonet November 10, 2013 Share November 10, 2013 hey gang I'm restarting my nano tank after about 2 or 3 months off, my parameters read 10/27/13 pH: 8.2 Ammonia: 2.0 Nitrite: 0.25 Nitrate: 20ppm 11/09/13 pH: 7.8 Ammonia: 0.25ppm Nitrite: 0ppm Nitrate: 0ppm So does this mean my tank has cycled already? The tanks were running for over 6mo before I shut them down. So was the bacteria still in the rock and sand? YHSublime November 10, 2013 Share November 10, 2013 Ammonia should be 0. Ammonia to nitrite, nitrites to nitrates.

tomtom2245 November 10, 2013 Share November 10, 2013 Once all of that ammonia converts to nitrites and then once all of the nitrite goes away you should be good to go.
wardragonet November 10, 2013 Author Share November 10, 2013 So if at next reading the ammonia is at 0ppm should I have a reading on my nitrite or would it still be 0ppm also? Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
smallreef November 10, 2013 Share November 10, 2013 You may still have nitrites .. They need to be 0 also...you can have low nitrates... but ammonia and nitrites need to be zero...before putting anything new in the tank...
