Armson October 31, 2005 October 31, 2005 I bought a used Knop calc reactor a long time ago and I think it is about time I set it up, However I need a regulator. Does any one have any recommendations? This is the one i have been looking at. http://www.championlighting.com/product.ph...&cat=348&page=1 Byron
reelsteel October 31, 2005 October 31, 2005 Byron...I'm gonna be in the same sitution, I'm getting a used Knop reactor but need the reg setup, so I'm tagging along on your thread and if I hear anything I'll let you know. Thanks Doug

Not that it looks that difficult to figure out.... But do you happen to have the setup instructions for the knop reactor?
ErikS October 31, 2005 October 31, 2005 I hear that the "M3" is the best (sold by PA under ReefFanatic brand). I use a Millwaukee that is working fine, good consistant bubble count. Dragon_slayer on RC swears by this brand & he's setup several hundred reactors.............but.......as I mentioned I have the above & it works fine.
reelsteel October 31, 2005 October 31, 2005 I'm getting it this Sunday and the guy says he has the instruction booklet but he just needs to locate it. If he finds it, I can scan it and send you a copy in email or mail you a copy. So you think any brand regulator will work? Are you planning on getting a PH controller? I have a pinpoint PH monitor and I thought as long as I keep an eye on it I should be fine? Any thoughts?
reelsteel October 31, 2005 October 31, 2005 Cool, thanks Eriks...I saw some new Milwaukee ones on Ebay for around $85 shipped or like $165 shipped with PH controller.
Armson October 31, 2005 Author October 31, 2005 I am definately getting a ph controller. The more automated the better. Yeah if i could get a copy of the booklet from you that would be great! email, fax, carrier pigeon what ever is easy for you will work for me.
ErikS October 31, 2005 October 31, 2005 Now I'll add even more fuel to the fire I have a PH controller & it's used for absolutely nothing.....nada, zip, zero, zilch. I have it set to shut down the reactor if the PH ever goes below 8 - thing of it is that it never does. I'm not against using one, but so far it hasn't done much. I guess it would make a nice safety to keep the reactor PH from going below 6.5 & turning the media to mush (but that ain't happened either ).

Because you have had no problems is exactly 100% opposite what will happen to me. Murphy is like my guardian angel. honestly I could care less if it never actually gets used. I just want to have the security. Byron

Guest Leishman October 31, 2005 October 31, 2005 ReefFanatic work for a few months and then crap out. I know several people who have had this happen (including me). They go crazy after a few months and you can't control the bubble count. Not good. When mine started to go, I would set the bubble count and by morning it woul have either stopped, started pushing out twice as many bubbles as I set it to do or it would do a buble every secon then stop for 30 seconds before starting again! ReefFanatic are not worth it. Pay the extra and get one that will last.
