lazidog May 1, 2013 May 1, 2013 My family and I will be traveling to DC later this month, I am a big reef junkie and wanted to see if there is anywhere in DC that I could get a fix. It has been many years since I have been there as a tourist and would like to see if there are any public aquariums or LFS's that are a must see. randyelmore@sc.rr.com
smallreef May 1, 2013 May 1, 2013 There is the national aquarium in DC it's a small aquarium as its larger sister is in Baltimore harbor.... The national zoo (not in downtown DC) has a few exhibits too I believe....
Brian Ward May 1, 2013 May 1, 2013 There is a large tank at the Museum of Natural History. A very small aquarium in the basement of the Commerce building (officially the National Aquarium) but the big one is in Baltimore, as smallreef mentioned. There are quite a few good LFSs but none of them are near downtown DC. All are about an hour to 1.5 hours outside the city.
zygote2k May 2, 2013 May 2, 2013 40 minutes outside of DC is Marine Scene. Chock full of nice display tanks.
Steve175 May 2, 2013 May 2, 2013 The reef at the Museum of Natural History is worth a visit (and well tolerated by the non-reef junkies in the family as well)
