Large Water main Break/OK to do Water Change?

Recommended Posts

I usually start making water for my water change on Wednesday evening, but we just has a major (54") water main break that services my area. Will the repair work affect water quality, service was never interrupted. I have a TDS meter and RO/DI water at 1 currently.

Its 184 after the 3 stage before the RO membrane. Its usually in the mid 80s.

My guess is that the water would sap your first sedimentation filter. I'd wait or be prepared to change out the filters a bit earlier this time around.

also watch our for additional chlorine. usually with a large break, they will disinfect the pipes as they are installed by swabbing with chlorine. the treatment plant might also increase dosing of chlorine as well to make sure everything is safe to drink.

Montgomery County and PG County both have a water use restriction order in place.

WSSC has ended the water usage restrictions.
