Happyfeet November 5, 2012 Share November 5, 2012 I've found it goes like this 1)Think you know everything 2)Tank Cycles 3)Add to much livestock 4)Everything dies 5)Read a little bit, understand a little bit more 6)Repeat steps 1, 2, 3 and 4 7)Avoid steps 4 and 6.. 8) Profit Or at least that is how it worked for me

Jsbarber12 November 6, 2012 Author Share November 6, 2012 Too far in to ever make a profit ha! But I am having a serious nitrate spike even though my bio load is relatively low. Could it be from rock from another way more established tank?

Jsbarber12 November 6, 2012 Author Share November 6, 2012 Two 20% water changes in 5 days. Probably will do a 50% Wednesday or Thursday . Hopefully that will do it
Sharkey18 November 6, 2012 Share November 6, 2012 I also have a new tank and currently have high nitrates. I expect them to 1) get worse because I just added all the fish 2) get better because I set up the fuge and have some macro algae. Unfortunately they will get worse much faster than they get better, so my nitrates will get higher unless I do something else to remove them like water changes. What type of nitrate export are you planning? 20 - 50% water changes every few days is not sustainable.
