Maria-Elena December 15, 2011 December 15, 2011 I am switching from a 12 gallon to a 28 jbj nano cube. I bought it from craigslist, but I don't know how to put the skimmer it came with. Should I also put live rock instead of bio balls. I have to start the cycle to transfer what I have. Thanks also to Reefer who gave me sand for my new tank. Thanks
smallreef December 15, 2011 December 15, 2011 Im assuming your talking about putting LR rubble in the back chamber instead of the bio balls? I did that same thing and worked fine for me.. Dont know about the skimmer, never had one on mine, theres another thread on here or saltwaterfish.com somewhere about one though... But yes, get your sand and LR in there to cycle.. you may also try using some of the water you pull out of your current tank to add to your new one so you dont have to ghost feed it...It should make the cycle a bit quicker and keep the ammonia smell down...
