  1. Sorry for the delay in responding. Thank you very much to all of you for your responses. I don't know if I will be able to find the same kind of rock I have for a similar landscape (let me know if someone has this kind of rock). This is what I have in my tank: 40lbs of pukani and tonga shelf live rock. This started as dry rock and has been seeded new. No bad hitchhikers. I would like to try to get rid of them first with a screwdriver or with the Majano wand (if I can borrow it from Mark), or if someone wants the mushrooms can help to scrap them off. Thanks
  2. Hello, can someone tell me how to get rid of these green mushrooms without getting rid of my rocks? Thanks
  3. I am having problems with my 34 gallon tank. There is a brown algae (I am not really sure if it is really an algae) since months ago. I had a person who tried to help me and recommended Seagel and other tips but it did not work. Also I want to get rid of the green mushrooms. Can someone help me please? I can pay for the coaching but I would like to find a solution. I live in Springfiedl, VA. Thank you very much!
  4. some of my hard corals have white tips. Should I be worried? Thanks
  5. Thank you for your responses. I live in Springfield, VA. I got this beautiful tank and I feel overwhelmed because I want to take very good care of everything. We already regulated the water pump, but I would like guidance with water changes (can I change the water from the sumps?, if I should install dossier pumps for Kh and CA (if I leave for one week), what supplements I should use for my corals. What I have to pay attention with the corals I have, etc. If someone can prepare a routine list for me, or can come to our house to brief me a little bit about the livestock and equipment I have, that would be wonderful. 6. Hi, I just bought a Red Sea 170 system from someone that was moving. Is someone familiar with it? I need help with some gurgling noise and in general. This was a very good opportunity for me to have a nice tank, but a lot to learn too. I live in Springfield if someone can visit us for a brief general session. I would really appreciate it. Thanks a lot!

  8. Yes, I have a SpectraPure CHP 2-stage 15gpd RO filter (perhaps I have to check if the cartridge is fine). I also want to buy a phosban reactor to eliminate phosphates. Thanks.
  9. I have a 29 gal nano cube. The cyanobacteria came back to my tank and I don't know what to do. I could't get rid of it so I used Ultralife Red Slime Remover 1 month ago and it was a lot better, but it came back. Now I am using rowaphos, ceramic rings, and a sponge in my filter. My parameters are good, except for my phosphates (0.25). The glass is yellow and I cannot clean it, it keeps coming back, please HELP. I don't want to use chemicals again, but don't know what else to do. I am only turning on my lights 5 hours per day. After I used the product, my skimmer stopped working, so I don't have a skimmer. Do I need to buy another one? Do I need a phosban reactor (as I said rowaphos is in the filter right now). I have 10 kind of corals and 5 fish. I have this kind of light: 105 Watt Compact Fluorescent Quad Lamp Kelvin: 10K Daylight/ 7100K Actinic Nite-Vu LED - (4) blue moonlights Please I need some guidance. Thank you very much.
  10. I have a SpectraPure CHP 2-stage 15gpd RO filter. I am going to post an ad to see if someone is selling a used reactor (I saw that they are expensive). Hope I can get rid of this cyanobacteria soon. I will make the water changes weekly, I will rinse the food with water before and can someone tell me please how many hours of light I should give my corals and fish? the minimum per day?
  11. When you say ro/di, it means a system? I don't have a system. My tank is a 29 JBJ Nano tank, do I still need it? For how long should I lessen my light? How many hours of light (minimum) do my corals need not to die and to make the cyano bacteria gone faster? I started feeding my fish once a day and very small amount. Should I make the water changes daily, every two days? How often? 10%, 20%? What should I rinse my frozen shrimp with? Thanks and I apologize for so many questiones, but I am new on this...
  12. Thanks. Before reading your post I was reading an article that said that the best thing to do to get rid of it completely was to turn off the lights for three days. Will the corals survive without light so many days? Should I turn only the blue light? This is the link: http://www.reefaddicts.com/content.php/42-Cyanobacteria-what-is-it-and-how-can-I-get-rid-of-it
  13. I am feeding my fish twice a day with frozen shrimp (small amount, what they can eat in 3 minutes) , but the cyano was caused because I overfed them. I am so sorry about that, but now I don't know what else to do. My tank is a JBJ 29 gallon tank. I have ceramic rings, activated carbon, reef carbon and a sponge in the filter. I have a skimmer too that is helping, but seems not to be enough. I siphoned off the sand and the next day the cyano is there again. The glass is also yellow/red. How did you use Chemiclean? What do I need to do first? Do I have to turn off my skimmer? Should I put my corals and fish in another tank? Thanks
  14. I have cyanobacteria in my tank and I don't know what else I can do. The parameters of the water are good. I have made water changes every four days. We also tried to keep the lights off for more time. My corals and fish are fine, but this bacteria is growing more and more. We have been cleaning the tank every day, we also put reef carbon in the filter, put other pump. I called petland today to ask if nassarious snails will help and they said that only temporarily and that the best product was chemiclean. Has anyone tried this product? Any other advice? Thanks.
  15. Thank you very much for your advice. We siphoned it off yesterday and made a water change, and I am going to buy the carbon to run it today (could you please explain to me how to do it?). There are still yellow/red spots in the glass. I think some of them look better this morning (unfortunately two of them died). I don't know if I can do something else. Thanks again.
  16. My tank was set up (the process wasready) three weeks ago. The cycle took one month. I came home 2 hour ago and connectedthe skimmer. My fish are OK, but some of my corals not. They look sad. The sandis with some red hairs and the glass has some green, but I did not touch thesand yet. My water will be readytomorrow, I prepared the water with a RO/DI filter. I am going to change 5 gallons, Pleaselook at the 4 pictures enclosed]and let me know what you think. Thanks again for all yourhelp. Pictures Tank (11_Jan2012).pdf
  17. I tested the water yesterday late at Petco and they said the parametres were fine. That is the reason I was surprised to see my corals like that. If my corals are still bado, when I get home this afternoon, I am going to take a picture of the coral that looked so sad yesterday night. Hope I can take better pictures. Thank you very much to everyone.
  18. Thanks for the advice. When I have a skimmer that came with my nano tank, but I did not put it because I did'n't have any fish at that time. I will connect it today. I also have a Eiheim vacuum, but I will not touch the sand yet. I think I overfed them because all the glass had red spots (color of the food) yesterday. I've already cleaned it, but it is still red on the sand. I feel so bad. My husband and I are new in the hobby. I am preparing water to make a water change today. Hope this works. I am posting three pictures I took with an itouch. I am not sure if you can see what I have. Is there anyone close to Springfield, VA who can come and see them? Thanks
  19. Hello: I think I overfed my corals and they are not looking well. I have a 28 gallon JBJ nano tankI haven
  20. I want to say Thank you for your advice. I am so happy my corals are fine, only one seems to be still sad, but I really thought none of them would survive. They looked so bad 2 days ago...I am preparing water for a water change. Thanks to all again! You were great!
  21. thanks for your email. I live in Springfield, VA. Valeria lives in Woodbridge. I was asking her if I need to make the change immediately...
  22. Thank you very much for your email. I live in Springfield, VA. Is Lakeridge in Woodbridge? Do I need to do it immediately?
  23. Hello! I need HELP, please. I have a 12 gallon jbj nano cube with 2 clowns and some corals. I made a 10% water change today, and I thought that the water I added was already with salt, but it was not. When I saw that my corals were kind of closed and small I measure the salt and it was VERY low. I added salt to the tank, but I don't know if it will help. Is there anything I can do to save them? Thanks for your advice.
  24. I am switching from a 12 gallon to a 28 jbj nano cube. I bought it from craigslist, but I don't know how to put the skimmer it came with. Should I also put live rock instead of bio balls. I have to start the cycle to transfer what I have. Thanks also to Reefer who gave me sand for my new tank. Thanks
