steveoutlaw July 22, 2011 Share July 22, 2011 I see the bags of rock salt at Lowes and they claim to be 99.8% pure salt. Can this salt be used in our tanks?
benjipang July 22, 2011 Share July 22, 2011 I would not because of two reasons: 1) Who knows what is the remaining 0.2% is 2) Reef/Fish salt actually has important elements like Calcium, Alk, and Potassium
Incredible Corals July 22, 2011 Share July 22, 2011 I doubt you would save that much money if any after you dose/add calclium, alk and all the other trace elements that are in reef salt.
steveoutlaw July 22, 2011 Author Share July 22, 2011 But the question is, would it HURT the system. I'm doing a little experiment that requires the use of it and I just wanted to see if I could do it. It would be going into a tank with no inhabitants for about 6 weeks.
