steveoutlaw September 30, 2010 September 30, 2010 I'm starting to fill my new cube and currently don't have a very good skimmer on my existing cube. I'm mixing up a bunch of salt water and was just going to change 5g per day in my existing cube and put the old water in the new cube to help fill it up. Anybody see any issues with this? BTW - the good skimmer is on the new cube so the old water would be skimmed.

I'll be putting about 30g per day into the large tank. I just wanted to make sure that I keep the water in my existing tank clean.
Coral Hind September 30, 2010 September 30, 2010 Oh yeah, you will fine then since it is for a short time frame.
davelin315 October 2, 2010 October 2, 2010 I would just go ahead and start the tank up with all new water. Honestly, I fail to see the problem with putting 100% new water into a tank. The typical reason that you have a tank re-cycle is because of released detritus or the rock is exposed to air for too long and starts to die off. If you're moving from one tank to another that's essentially across the room, you won't have those issues.
