I'm starting to fill my new cube and currently don't have a very good skimmer on my existing cube. I'm mixing up a bunch of salt water and was just going to change 5g per day in my existing cube and put the old water in the new cube to help fill it up. Anybody see any issues with this?

BTW - the good skimmer is on the new cube so the old water would be skimmed.

Edit: I just read it again..I think you will be fine doing it that way. Can you do larger water changes to fill the new tank up faster?

I'll be putting about 30g per day into the large tank. I just wanted to make sure that I keep the water in my existing tank clean.

Isn't that just a prolonged acclimation?

I would just go ahead and start the tank up with all new water. Honestly, I fail to see the problem with putting 100% new water into a tank. The typical reason that you have a tank re-cycle is because of released detritus or the rock is exposed to air for too long and starts to die off. If you're moving from one tank to another that's essentially across the room, you won't have those issues.
