DDiver September 29, 2010 Share September 29, 2010 So about two weeks ago i saw that one of my skunk cleaners had a clutch of eggs under her belly.I thought about catching it and throwing her in the fuge but she would retreat into the rocks anytime i get near her so i just left her alone.Last night i shined the flash light into the tank like i do every other night to see how everything was looking and i caught a little reflection.I usually shine the light right up against the glass and stare real close in one spot to check the pod population in the water column(i read somewhere that pods where attracted to and will swim in the light and thru experience i've found that to be true).Well the reflection i caught was from the eyes of little shrimp larvae and after i saw that first one i saw a whole bunch more float by.I was able to capture about 3 or 4 and placed them in the fuge.I'm doubtful they will survive but i figured why not..does anyone know if you can successfully breed them in captivity? lanman September 29, 2010 Share September 29, 2010 I know peppermint shrimp can be bred in captivity - I have a little book about it. Not sure about skunk cleaners. But good luck! bob
Coral Hind September 29, 2010 Share September 29, 2010 I have read several threads where people are breeding them but it is not easy. I wouldn't try to remove the adult shrimp but instead use a bubble trap. Here is an RC thread with some nice documented pics of the stages. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=846955
