DEEPBLUE February 28, 2005 Share February 28, 2005 I had a clam die in my tank about 3 weeks ago and since than I've gotten a real bad fishy smell. Does anyone know what I can do to get rid of it. Eric
craby February 28, 2005 Share February 28, 2005 Add some pinesol to the tank. That should freshen up the smell a bit. :P Just joshin. Sounds like the clam is fouling up the tank a little. If you haven't yet, take out the dead clam and do a water change, add carbon & phosphate remover.
OUsnakebyte February 28, 2005 Share February 28, 2005 That's what I was going to say - a nice high quality carbon usually does the trick. Don't forget to rinse it off first! Cheers Mike
quazi February 28, 2005 Share February 28, 2005 Run a polyfilter ASAP. That will take care of it.
Caribbean Jake March 1, 2005 Share March 1, 2005 Definitely a 20% to 30% water change, you could do a 10% but better save than sorry !!. Take the clam out before you do the water changes. If the water smells after the water change then wait a day or two and do a 10% water change every other day until the smell is gone. That
