Kingumar July 2, 2010 Share July 2, 2010 (edited) i was given these as purple hornets that lost their color and was told the color comes back but its been a little over a month and i still don't see any color coming back. Although, i have had 3 more polyps since iv got them but they all see to have the same color. these are my first hornets that's why i am a little confused. are these purple hornets? if yes, what can i do to get their color back? zygote2k July 2, 2010 Share July 2, 2010 A true 'hornet' has alternating colors on the tentacles and usually has 3 rings of color surrounding the mouth. Since the 'hornet' craze as of late, anything remotely close to these specifications gets the 'hornet' moniker.

sdah0414 July 2, 2010 Share July 2, 2010 That's not a "real" hornet. That's a purple monkey dishwasher japanese deepwater zoanthidpaly. In all seriousness though, that doesn't look like the photos of "purple hornets" I have seen.
