Incredible Corals May 10, 2010 Share May 10, 2010 I have a few Acan frags I bought from Mr. Coral. I'm trying to figure out the best place to put them in the tank (currently on a frag rack). I have a standard 55 gal with a 6 bulb T5 fixture. Do the frags need to be placed/glued to rock so they grow over the rock? Can I place them in the sand and grow their own skeletons? Or, should I leave them on the frag rack so they are away from everything until they start to grow over the frag disk?
epleeds May 10, 2010 Share May 10, 2010 most of my acans like the low part of my tank. I usually mount them to small rocks so i can move them. If they are on rocks they grow better than if in the sand. I would keep them in the bottom of the tank at first...and then after a week or two mount them where you want them. lanman May 10, 2010 Share May 10, 2010 And good luck on growing them out. They can be pretty cantankerous. Recently I had one grow from 3 polyps to about 10 polyps - and then without being moved, or any other changes, it started losing polyps. Now it seems to be growing again from about 5 polyps. sigh... bob
Incredible Corals May 10, 2010 Author Share May 10, 2010 I would like to put them in the sand to avoid being knocked off the rocks and visually the contrast with the colors and the white sand. lanman, where did you have them in your tank?
