pez July 15, 2003 July 15, 2003 Does anyone know what type of tubing the litre meter uses inside the pump housing? I know it should be replaced once and a while and I'm far over due. However, the only place that seems to sell it is Spectrapure directly. Surely I can get some from US Plastic or some similar place. I just don't know what type of tubing it is. Anyone know? -T
dgasmd July 15, 2003 July 15, 2003 I have one. I had to replace the tubing a while back. I could only find it at Spectrapure too, but premium aquatics or marine depot will order them for you and have them drop ship it. It cost like $25 of I remember right. Before you replace it, take it out and wipe it clean with rubbing alcohol. Do the same for the other parts in the head mechanism. The rollers you can wash with some citrus based soap until they are clean again. That will buy you some time. I tried looking around at home depot and other places and never found anything even similar. Alberto
Guest reeftanklfs July 16, 2003 July 16, 2003 Hi Guys: Not exactly sure what type of tubing the liter meter comes with, but that's irrelevent. You can use vinyl tubing, but it won't last at all (in a pinch only). The best type of tubing to get for peristaltic pumps is neoprene tubing. They cost bucks per foot, but you'll get some life out of them. I think Aquatic Eco Sys. has some in their catalog, or you can see pages of them in the scientific catalogs like Fisher's. There's an internet company that advertises on Reefcentral and reefs.org, and their only products are peristaltic pumps for dosing. I forgot their name, but do a search. hth The Reef Tank
ReefMon July 16, 2003 July 16, 2003 I've been successful with removing the tubing letting it "rest" and re inserting it in a slightly different position. This has worked several times for me with the original tubing me over the past few years. If you do go ahead and order some, I'll go in with, as having a replacement around would probably be a smart move!
pez July 19, 2003 Author July 19, 2003 I found the neoprene tubing on various web sites, but I wasn't sure about the details. 3/16" outter diameter? 1/8"? I don't know. It's about 1/foot (Spectrapure what $15 for 10 ft).
