steveoutlaw March 12, 2010 March 12, 2010 I have a small HOB fuge and I'm currently using a MJ400. Is this too much flow?
zygote2k March 13, 2010 March 13, 2010 Fuge shouldn't have so much current that things on the bottom get stirred up. You don't want the pods in a cyclone.
bluefunelement March 13, 2010 March 13, 2010 My small CPR has MJ600 and I'm thinking of adding a small 80pgh pump recirc in the fuge itself.
steveoutlaw March 13, 2010 Author March 13, 2010 Ok, then I'll take the MJ400 as not being too much. There is definately not a cyclone and none of the sand is getting stirred up. Thanks all.
davelin315 March 13, 2010 March 13, 2010 I don't know how much flow is passing through there, but I will say that the place in my system where I get the most pods present is my overflow where there is indirect flow and the detritus settles out. I would guesstimate that in a tiny area, probably no more than 1'x4" total, there were well over 1,000 mysids and pods combined when I siphoned the detritus out for Sam's cuttlefish.

I've got about 3" of sand in the fuge and a pile of live rock rubble. All of the flow that's going through it is indirect i guess because the pump output has to go through a baffle before it gets to the rock. Plus, I'm planning on putting some chaeto and caulerpa in there so that should help as well.
