Guest The_Haunter June 14, 2003 June 14, 2003 Im kinda new at having my own salt water tank. I used to making tanks built for taratulas. Anyway I have a 44 gallon tank, with 2 "nemo" clown fish, 1 butterfly fish,2 small blueish type of fish i forget the name. I work at the national zoo in dc so I know a bit about tank matinence and things of that nature. But the only thing in the thats with the fish are sea shells, and some big pond rocks that I have fond please help me make my tank look nice and attractive. Thank you.....
pez June 16, 2003 June 16, 2003 There are a numer of ways to go, depending on what you want to accomplish. If you only want to keep fish, then your options are open. If you want to keep corals, or a more "natural" fish tank, then you should get some live rock and natural sand (such as southdown). Give the FAQs a read first and make you are down with the lingo and such: http://faq.thekrib.com/ -Tom
Gatortailale June 16, 2003 June 16, 2003 Welcome. You are making a good choice by asking for advice. Just remember to make changes slow. If you do decide to add live rock, make sure you cure it before you put it in the tank; or buy some fully cured. If you add sand, you might want to put it in bucket with water and let it settle out some. Dry Southdown tends to cause a sand storm and makes the water look like milk. Some have used funnel and pvc tube to pour the sand in to existing tank to avoid putting a lot in suspension by just dumping the sand in the tank. The pvc tube helps to get the sand on the bottom.
