Jager September 12, 2009 September 12, 2009 (edited) really depends on their aggression. porcs tend to be laid back, and having lips over their fused teeth makes them less dangerous to tank mates if they do cope an attitude. dogfaces are not hindered by that extra flesh. dogfaces are also able to inflict more damage on you for that same reason. so be careful doing maintenance. I have to make my presence known by putting a large part of my hand or arm in the water, dangling a finger or part of my hand is a good way to get an exploratory bite. if you have an acrylic tank you may wish to revisit adding any open tooth puffers as their constant prowling will scratch the acrylic. and if they start biting at the sides when they expect to be fed... well that can get pricey to fix. there are some other issues that the diodon species of puffers pretty much avoid entirely (dentistry, specific feeding requirements of harder shelled items) etc that make them some of the easiest of the family to keep. that being said the arothron's are great fish as long as you know what you are getting into. you have the physical space for them , but be careful adding the dogface just in case.
