BeltwayBandit January 27, 2009 January 27, 2009 Ok so I am looking into DIY LED displays and found a really neat site for helping you plan out and build the array. Have fun! http://led.linear1.org/led.wiz
paenian January 29, 2009 January 29, 2009 You really don't want to use resistors for high-powered or large LED arrays. Even the single-transistor constant-current drives are about 10 times as efficient! I think the winner there are the Zetex 1362-style PWM controllers - few components, easy dimming, and cost a couple bucks for the full circuit. Of course, that's assuming you're comfortable soldering, and that you're not just wiring in some night lights. Anything over a watt or so, you'll be hard-pressed to find a suitable resistor (remember to calculate the power dissipation! Those little wire ones burn out at about a tenth of a watt) Paul
