Bio: The Fun Comes in Finding Them Amazing Fish and Critters from the Coral Triangle Authors and wildlife photographers Ned and Anna DeLoach recount their nine-year hunt for rare, weird and beautiful animals inhabiting the epicenter of marine biodiversity. Ned and Anna, along with partner Paul Humann, have published nine identification guides for reef fishes and invertebrates around the world. Their talk will feature stories and images of many of the their favorite discoveries from the rich waters of Indonesia and New Guinea, where they have been working on their latest book, a marine invertebrate guide to tropical Pacific. Ned was a friend and collaborator with Marjorie Bank, who in the 1980s helped the team with their first fish identification book to the Caribbean. They are off to Papau New Guinea for a month photographing and videotaping anything and everything. This is really going to be a treat for the eyes! Per our bylaws, an officer is elected for a 2 year term. There are five officers: President - Craig Kuhn (elected '08) Vice President - Doug Arthur (elected '07) Secretary - David Lin (elected '07) Treasurer - James Nguyen [Dave Hochheiser (elected '08) stepped down in Nov. '08] Membership Director - Bob Mauldin (elected '08) So, this year, we must elect a new Vice President, and Secretary. Official job descriptions are listed below in the quote. Nominations are now open. Please send nominations to officers@wamas.org or post here and we will begin the process now. Self nominations welcome please write a little bit of why you want to run and brief bio about yourself. Elections will be held by electronic vote using email and by ballots cast at the Winter Meeting. I will announce the email vote shortly before the winter meeting. Regards, Craig Section 8. President. The President shall be the Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation and shall have general supervision over the activities and operations of the Corporation subject, however, to the control of the Board. The President is Chairman of the Board and spokesperson of the Corporation. The President shall sign, execute and acknowledge, in the name of the Corporation, deeds, mortgages, bonds, contracts or other instruments authorized by the Board except in cases where the signing and execution thereof shall be expressly delegated by the Board or by these Bylaws to some other officer or agent of the Corporation and, in general shall perform all duties incident to the office of President, and such other duties as from time to time may be assigned to him or her by the Board. Section 9. Vice President. The Vice President shall perform the duties of the President in his or her absence and such other duties, as may from time to time, are assigned to him or her by the Board or the President. The Vice President is the Vice Chairman of the Board. Section 10. Secretary. The Secretary of the Board shall record all the votes of the directors and keep and retain minutes of the meetings of the Board and of committees of the Board in a book or books to be kept for that purpose; shall se taht notices are given and records and reports properly kept and filed by the Corporation as required by law; shall be custodian of the seal of the Corp. and see that it is affixed to all documents to be executed on behalf of the Corp. under its seal and in general, shall perform all duties incident of the office of the Secretary and such other duties as may from time to time be assigned to him or her by the Board or the President. The Secretary shall prepare and distribute an agenda prior to meetings. Section 11. Treasurer. The Treasurer shall have or provide for the custody of funds or other property of the Corporation and shall keep a separate bank account of the same; shall collect and receive or provide for the collection and receipt of moneys earned by or in any manner due to or received by the Corporation; and shall deposit all funds in his or her custody as Treasurer in such banks or other places of deposit as the Board may from time to time designate; shall, whenever so required by the Board, render an account showing his or her transactions as Treasurer, and the financial condition of the Corporation; and, in general, shall discharge such other duties as may from time to time be assigned to him or her by the Board, or the President. The Treasurer shall prepare an annual report of the Corporation, including all financial records, which shall be presented to the Board for inspection and approval. Section 12. Membership Director. The Membership Director or an Assistant Membership Director shall have or provide for the custody of registered rolls representing the membership of the Corporation; shall provide for and maintain the privacy policies of the Corporation; shall gain approval of the Board for all changes to the privacy policies of the Corporation; shall provide for and maintain the process for accepting new members; shall provide and maintain the process for severing members, either through expiration of member term or through breach of conduct inconsistent with the Bylaws of the Corporation and acceptable use policies of the bulletin board; shall, whenever so required by the Board, render an account showing his or her transactions as Membership Director, and the current rolls for membership in the Corporation; and, in general, shall discharge such other duties as may from time to time be assigned to him or her by the Board, or the President. The Membership Director shall prepare an annual report of the membership rolls of the corporation, which shall be presented to the Board for inspection and approval.
