Chilly willy...maybe time to check your heaters!!

I woke up this morning to turn the heat up in my house and found out that my tank's 300w Visi-Therm heater shorted and blew the circuit breaker. With the tank at 74 degrees, I rushed to the panel and flipped the breaker back on and went to check on the tank. As soon as i looked at the heater, I saw the little light go on and BLAM...there went the breaker again. I guess with so much inactivity, it hasn't been truly tested since i set up the tank ( check out the build thread here)Luckily I seeked out a spare I had but will purchase a titanium one to support my Reefkeeper2.

With the weather changing it might be a good time to perform some quarterly maintenance and give your system the once over...

Yep, I got up this morning to find my townhouse at 69 degrees. Heater was running but the tank was just getting cooler because fan was still blowing across the water surface, unplugged the fan and the tank was almost 78 degrees before I left for work so my heater is definately working.
