Brian Ward October 1, 2008 October 1, 2008 they're basically the same but the lab grade generally lasts longer.

Brian Ward October 1, 2008 October 1, 2008 Last longer by days, weeks, months? Months. you'll get about double the life out of a lab grade probe.
onux20 October 3, 2008 October 3, 2008 How about this... what is more cost effective, considering accuracy and longevity, the Ph probe (lab grade or standard) versus the portable Ph pen meters? Has anyone tried the pen type meters? Ron
YBeNormal October 3, 2008 October 3, 2008 A probe with a controller (e.g. ACIII) will allow you to monitor and graph pH fluctuation over a period of time while a pH pen or meter is only good for single point-in-time measurements. I'd go with a probe.
