What's the consensus around these parts?

I'm purchasing a AC III and I want to pick up a pH and Temp probe but I'm not sure whether to get standard or lab grade.

lab grade tends to last longer in my opinion.

they're basically the same but the lab grade generally lasts longer.

Last longer by days, weeks, months?

Months. you'll get about double the life out of a lab grade probe.

How about this...

what is more cost effective, considering accuracy and longevity, the Ph probe (lab grade or standard) versus the portable Ph pen meters?

Has anyone tried the pen type meters?

Ron

A probe with a controller (e.g. ACIII) will allow you to monitor and graph pH fluctuation over a period of time while a pH pen or meter is only good for single point-in-time measurements. I'd go with a probe.
