davidk September 25, 2008 September 25, 2008 Can anyone suggest a good Point & Shoot? I don't want to spend more than $350 and don't want anything too big or too complicated. I've had Leica, Canon, Panasonic in the past.
Brian Ward September 25, 2008 September 25, 2008 Canon, Nikon and Sony all make good point and shoot models. #1 tradeoff with a compact camera: - Lens size (diameter) is the #1 obstacle to low-light photos. The super small models have super small lenses. That means they work great in bright light situations and lower light with a flash (subject within 10 feet) but are horrible for tank shots because the shutter speed has to be set higher - causing blur for moving items and making it impossibe to hand-hold. So the larger models have larger lenses with higher optical zooms (digtal zoom is fake and you can do that on your computer). The smaller models have smaller lenses and are good for snapshots but that's about it. Some places for reviews: www.cnet.com and http://www.dpreview.com/
Neilan September 25, 2008 September 25, 2008 I am extremely pleased with my Canon S5 IS. Not one of the slimline point and shoots, but takes awesome pictures.
Kevin Garrison September 25, 2008 September 25, 2008 I also like Fuji, I've had several and I think they make very good cameras, here's a link off one of the sites for a decent 10mp camera for only $229 http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=F-...-DT&cat=CAM If they still have it when my wife's settlement comes in I'm considering this one for myself... or a Canon if I want to get pricey.
