MisterTang December 2, 2008 December 2, 2008 I tried to follow the second link in your original post, but it's dead... I'm looking for guidelines on how to build one. Do you essentially just throw a grid into your 'fuge and algae starts growing on it?
bbyatv December 2, 2008 Author December 2, 2008 I at one time was using an old PC bulb over the refugium. I decided to try 2 Commercial Electric 27 Watt Compact Fluorescent (5,500K) bulbs from Home Depot. Man did the algae take off after I changed bulbs. These CFLs did the trick. Yes, I do run a reverse photoperiod to try and keep the pH as stable as possibele. Bruce I didn't see it posted; but, what's the wattage/spectrum of lighting? Are you using Reverse Photoperiods?
bbyatv December 2, 2008 Author December 2, 2008 Sorry the link went dead Below are some new links that discuss Algal Turf Scrubbers (ATS). I think you should have a film of water running over the screen and lots of light aimed at it. Any way here are the links with more information. http://www.thekrib.com/Filters/scrubber.html#0 http://forum.marinedepot.com/Topic46294-9-1.aspx http://www.aquariumadvice.com/forums/f20/a...9gal-54144.html http://www.reefbuilders.com/forums/diy-pro...ber-thread.html Bruce I tried to follow the second link in your original post, but it's dead...
