I tried to follow the second link in your original post, but it's dead... I'm looking for guidelines on how to build one. Do you essentially just throw a grid into your 'fuge and algae starts growing on it?

I at one time was using an old PC bulb over the refugium. I decided to try 2 Commercial Electric 27 Watt Compact Fluorescent (5,500K) bulbs from Home Depot. Man did the algae take off after I changed bulbs. These CFLs did the trick. Yes, I do run a reverse photoperiod to try and keep the pH as stable as possibele.

I didn't see it posted; but, what's the wattage/spectrum of lighting? Are you using Reverse Photoperiods?
