onux20 August 14, 2008 August 14, 2008 It started a few weeks ago with a black spot on his dorsal fin. In the last week he has developed more spots on his body and on his mouth. Anyone know what this could be a sign of? He his still as active as always and shows not outward signs of stress. The rest of the fish look and are acting fine. Ron

I am really scared of the FW dip. The last time I did one I thought I killed the fish. If I am lucky enough to catch him this weekend I will give it a try. Ron
Amuze August 15, 2008 August 15, 2008 (edited) Do you have a yellow tang in your tank? Black ich is a disease that can come into your tank with them, but seems to be easily treated and is not typically lethal. The dip should work, but adding a cleaner wrasse will also help if the clown allows it. My cleaner wrasse took care of the little black spots the yellow tang had recently. Since I noticed it, I added a cleaner wrasse, a neon goby and a cleaner shrimp. No more black ich and I didn't do any dips. No other fish in my tank showed any signs of it. You can get a cleaner wrasse from BRK. Mine eats frozen mysis and nori just like the tang and is doing very well... It also doesn't bother anything in the tank. My six line wrasse did chase it a couple of time, but stopped after the first 2 days and is now getting along with it. Edited August 15, 2008 by audible
