Highland Reefer June 22, 2008 Share June 22, 2008 Building a frag light setup for a 30 g. standard tank. I just noticed that Air, Water & Ice sells electronic ballasts with bulbs for metal halides at good prices. I was thinking about using a single end bulb around 14,000 K. I see from other posts there are some color problems with the DE bulbs, but nothing noted about the SE bulbs. For a frag tank, I would not be as concerned about color as the light quality and output. GaryL June 22, 2008 Share June 22, 2008 (edited) i think 10000k would be a good bet. if what you are going for is growth and not so much color. 10000k would also help them from browning out and keep moderate growth so they will maintain some color fwiw you can get amazing growth from 6500k...but the color isnt there unless you suppliment with alot of actinics HTH my .02... oh and i have no experience with DE just mogul SE...what wattage and how many bulbs you using?
