Highland Reefer May 23, 2008 May 23, 2008 When I purchased the green galaxea it was a pretty green, but after several months it has turned brown. From what I've read they need strong light and stronger current. I have it under metal halides and it is getting a good current. I looked on the internet, but could not find any references to this. Anybody else ever have this happen?

I am using 400 W. 14,000 K bulbs on a 110 g. High. The coral seems healthy other than the color changing from green to brown. This occured about 1.5 months ago. Maybe it is under too much light? I could move it lower down in the tank. Edited May 29, 2008 by Highland Reefer
davelin315 May 29, 2008 May 29, 2008 Could be protecting itself from too much light. You have as much light over your tank as I do over my 300 that is 32" deep, so I'm guessing that's it.
Highland Reefer May 29, 2008 Author May 29, 2008 Sounds like I am going to have to make a run down to DC & borrow the Par Meter & see what is going on in my tank. All the other corals are doing good, so I'll try moving it down lower in the tank for now. I appreciate your imput.

Every time i've seen a coral turn brown it's been from too much light or a high temperature event (like 85+).
