Jessica April 12, 2008 April 12, 2008 I purchased 2 piggy backs for my 4 stage ro/di but the store didn't send any diagrams or instructions on how to install both. Can anyone help me? System is a AquaFx ro/di unit. I found instructions on how to install only 1 system, not two. Thanks!
Jon Lazar April 13, 2008 April 13, 2008 (edited) Jessica, I haven't done this myself, but I have an extra RO membrane so I've thought a bit about hooking it up. End of disclaimer. I think you'll need to put a tee at the outlet to your last carbon filter, and send one branch of the tee to your first RO membrane. The second branch goes to the second membrane. You'll end up with two waste water lines, and two product water lines. Each waste water line will require it's own flow restrictor. You can use another tee to combine the two waste water lines together after they come out of the membrane housing, and yet another tee to combine the two product water lines. The combined product water line then goes to the DI and then to your top-off reservoir. I think adjusting the two flow restrictors might be tricky, because a change to the first restrictor could change the flow through the second restrictor. Spectrapure recommends a ratio of waste: product of between 4:1 and 6:1. Most people shoot for the 4:1 to avoid even higher water bills. Hope this helps.
