i hope i can ask this question here. i bought an elegance last march but i dont know if it was an aussie. it was doing very well and i fed it regularly. about 2 months ago it started to recede. now it is done to one polyp. that polyp hasnt gotten bigger or smaller and i moved it to an area with less flow. i havent witnessed any predators. i have available nutrients and not much has changed in my tank since this happened. what do you guys think?

Got a picture? I had one that was doing that years back when they were still struggling and the suggestion was made that I do a lugol's dip on it. That promptly killed it and I went on a rampage against Julian Sprung, which I now realize was not justified as he was giving me good advice based on the history of elegance corals. I would think, though, that with yours being a year old already, it's something other than the poor health of elegance corals in general. Try the dip, but beware, this could make it go south in a hurry. Mine died off within hours, most likely because of its already weakened state.

The same thing happened to mine. I had it for about a year and then it went south. It was a slow and ugly decline that lasted about two weeks.

thats the thing. mine declined very quickly and then it stopped and has held there for months. it even feeds still.
