Guest beatle March 17, 2008 #1 March 17, 2008 As there is no room in my canopy for more bulbs, I think my best option would be to upgrade my stock ballasts to Icecap(s). I think I'd need 2x430s or 1x660. It'd be cheaper to buy one 660, but I'd lose my ability to turn the actinics and daylight bulbs on individually, right? Other than fans to cool the bulbs, would I need anything else to run the new ballast? I could reuse my existing wiring, no?
dhoch March 17, 2008 #2 March 17, 2008 I'm not sure what "bulbs" you are running, but do the following either 2 x 430s or get 1 430 and have it power 2 or 3 bulbs (not sure it can do 3) and fire the actinic off your old T5 ballast. Dave
Guest beatle March 17, 2008 #3 March 17, 2008 Here are my bulbs from back to front: 1x ATI Blue Plus 1x ATI Aquablue 1x GE 6500K 1x ATI Super Actinic The BP and SA are on one ballast, the GE and AB are on the other. I consider the BP to be somewhat actinic, though it's not as blue as the SA. It's clearly bluer than the AB which is pretty white. The 430 won't fire 3x T5s. It tops out at 2 T5s.
