lanman February 17, 2008 February 17, 2008 Mine seems to finally have found its version of paradise. It hasn't moved in several weeks, now. It is down in a little crevice - front/center tank - with just the tip of it sticking out. This RBTA (one of the 'WAMAS' clones) is pretty small - and I think when it grows out a bit, it will look very good where it is. It was in a bad state when I received it, after living in front of a powerhead for quite a while. So the question - how fast do they grow? I feed it a few shrimp or a piece of fish or squid about every other day. I'm sure it manages to grab a mysis or two even on the days I don't spot feed it. When can I expect to see it actually extend the foot out about another inch, and when can I expect the 'tentacles' to get longer? They are up to about 3/4" now, near as I can tell - but I can only see the tips. bob
traveller7 February 17, 2008 February 17, 2008 Bob, Under the best of conditions, I have had a golfball sized BTA without minimal zoox, no tentacles(chewed off nubs), grow out and recolor to a 6" diameter tentacle covered specimen in 90 days. The keys: -will it eat(try fish based meals cut in 1cmx1cm sized cubes every other day) -is it hiding from the lighting(check it at night and see if it comes out more) -are any tank mates pestering it?(shrimp, fish, crabs, eunice worms, etc.) Good luck

It does seem to be out a little more at night: How is it looking?: bob
traveller7 February 17, 2008 February 17, 2008 It appears a bit bleached in the center and base of the tentacles, but nothing I would be in a panic over. Likely the reason it is out a bit more at night, feed it then if it becomes necessary. Keep an eye on the coloration, it if begins to fade toward white, it may need some action.

It WAS white... only a tiny bit of pink on the tips. And the tentacles were only about 1/4" long. Tentacles are longer, with much more coloration. This is from December 15th - a few days after I acquired it: bob
