The first one is a sponge.

 

The second one, if you're talking about the green one, those are green star polyps. If you're talking about the out-of-focus tan background coral, it's Xenia. Or are you talking about that little tiny bit of green macroaglae behind the GSP?

it's good for diversity. It just filter feeds, and if it's growing, it's thriving. Looks nice.

 

 

On the macroalgae - does it look hard, like a rock that got covered in algae, or does it look more like a balloon that happens to be green colored?

 

 

 

Not sure what "smaller variety" you're talking about, davelin - have a species or other common name for it?

Looks like a macro-algae to me; one that Bemmer had (I have a small piece of it in my refugium). Growth pattern is kind of like a monti-digi (branching); but it's a macro-algae. If it's soft - put it in the refugium!
