dmward99 November 8, 2007 November 8, 2007 I have broken the reefkeeping law of purchasing from Petco a Anemonie for only $6. Can someone tell me if it looks healthy and also can someone tell what kind it is?Again I only paid $6 for it and thought I could give it a chance.I took the pic with the lights out only the camera flash.I can't seem to put the pics with this post so I will add it to my gallery.

Don't see a picture in the gallery, but price alone tends to indicate an Atlantic Condylactis species. They are fairly tolerant of lighting variations, fairly aggressive with nearby corals, tend to wander, tend to shrink up over time, and rarely are called home by clownfish. Can gather more information on them by searching: Condy, Haitian Anemone, pink tipped anemone. Good luck and feed it 1cmx1cm meaty fish based meals every other day to keep it happy.
ReeferMan November 8, 2007 November 8, 2007 im guessing a condi without the pic. Never seen them carry anything else expectially for that price im guessing a condi without the pic. Never seen them carry anything else expectially for that price

Don't forget aggressive toward slow swimming fish. I had a10" condi in my tank that ate my foxface.......of course, it quickly turned sickly. I tried to get the fish out by cutting the condi open but the foxface had already died. That said, Enjoy!
dmward99 November 8, 2007 Author November 8, 2007 This is all too scary for me.I think I will give it away and get a bubble tip.I have a 20 long and only a pair of maroons will be calling this tank home.I will work on the pic just to be sure.
txaggies07 November 8, 2007 November 8, 2007 Well...my condi from Petco never got very big. I had another condi that was awesome that ate my fish. Anyways...they aren't terrible...just nothing like the joy of having a nice BTA.
dmward99 November 8, 2007 Author November 8, 2007 I can't get this pic thing to work at all.I went to web issues and followed what Edwardj said and the pic is not attaching to the gallery. Can I email it to someone and they post it for me? Also for the time being (until I decide if I want to keep him or not) would it be OK to feed him frozen Mysid Shrimp?
traveller7 November 8, 2007 November 8, 2007 Also for the time being (until I decide if I want to keep him or not) would it be OK to feed him frozen Mysid Shrimp? Most will eat thawed mysis just fine.
txaggies07 November 8, 2007 November 8, 2007 I use to take a frozen mysis cube and just shake it upstream of the anemone. The mysis would come free and go right into the anemone. Sometimes I got lazy and just put the cube in his tentacles. It seemed to work ok.
davelin315 November 9, 2007 November 9, 2007 Some fish will host in them. I had a gold bar maroon that was hosting in a condylactus a few years back. Of course, someone stole the fish from school so that ended that relationship pretty quickly....
jason the filter freak November 9, 2007 November 9, 2007 Look anything like ?? And/or ??? Check this thread (scroll down to the end, for more info and pics http://www.wamas.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=15286
mexicanjavafish November 9, 2007 November 9, 2007 (edited) Of course, someone stole the fish from school so that ended that relationship pretty quickly.... Judging by the stuff in your signature it's an elementary school...............how in the world do you steal a fish from an elementary school tank?????? or here's another one: why?????????? davelin315 November 9, 2007 November 9, 2007 Judging by the stuff in your signature it's an elementary school...............how in the world do you steal a fish from an elementary school tank?????? or here's another one: why?????????? School tank, you're right. There was a kid doing "community service" with the custodians and then the last time he was there doing his "community service" the fish went missing overnight. If it weren't for the fact that we took the whole tank apart and there is not a clean up crew in there I would have said it simply died. But, since the eel was the only possible one to be able to eat it, and it was too big for the eel to eat, I'm going with the hunch that the kid who always watched the tank closely is the reason why the clown was gone after he left. It was incredibly tame, too, and would have been very easy to scoop out as it swam up to eat out of your hand and would swim right into it if you put your hand into the tank. The kids were devastated when they lost "Mad Albert" after 3 years. He was one of their favorites.
