Tracy, Hopefully junior figures out that a little dance will save him some grief very soon. Until then, keep an eye on him and make sure the tank is covered.

Good luck.

When Kismet discovered him in the mushrooms, she swam over like a flash. He instantly went on his side, quivered, and then "played dead" on top of a mushroom. I think he's gotten the message.

Thanks so much!

Good to hear, now it is up to her to back off a bit and pair bond with the juvie as he matures into a male.

Nice job :>)

Even though I have two GBTA's, the new little tomato clown has taken to my hammer coral. We'll see if he finds his way to an anemone.

Does the female allow the newcomer into an anemone yet? It would not be unusual for her to keep the juvie at a distance for days or even weeks.

She's already much kinder...circling the mushroom rock, and allowing him to emerge without attacking him. She is doing that little clown bob and kind of backing into him. I hope the worst is over.

I really appreciate your advice. I never would have let it go on as long as it did without you chiming in here.

Very cool, keep it coming.

HOORAY!!! :bb:

WHAT a relief! You could use a good break.

Traveller,

Is it OK to have Tomato Clownfish from the same hatch (siblings) as mated pairs. I read in "Clownfishes" by Joyce Wilkerson that is was ok, but just wanted to double check. Are there any advantages or disadvantages?

Thanks,

Wreck

The clownfish don't mind. A generation or two in does not seem to negatively impact the larvae. For the mass market, it does not seem to be an issue in any way. Quite a few captive raised lines are rumored to be F4 to F6.

Personally:

If I had little choice, as in a single uncommon pair to start broodstock, I would.

If I had a choice, I would not mix Fx for future breeding purposes.
