jnguyen4007 June 26, 2007 June 26, 2007 I need to buy a salt water test kit and it seems that Salifert is the best to buy but then I read that they been going downhill lately. So, what else out there do you guys recommend? As far as testing the Ph goes, do you guys recommend a handheld Ph meter over the type that you get with a test kit or one of those Ph monitor device? ReeferMan June 26, 2007 June 26, 2007 I would get a monitor and a test kit so that you can check how accurate the probe is over time.
YBeNormal June 26, 2007 June 26, 2007 Habib is active on RC again and working to confirm or refute the reports of bad test kits. He's been a very responsible vendor in the past and I have no reason to believe that this issue will not be handled correctly. I'd go with Salifert. If you have the means to supplement with a good PH monitor, so much the better.
bigJPDC June 26, 2007 June 26, 2007 I have one of the Hanna instruments pH meter, the red one that goes to .0x, and it's awesome. No more strips or guessing a gradient of red to figure out if I am between 7.6 and 8.4. Some of the best, and least money that I've spent in this hobby. The bad part is that now that I built an ATO and add buffer to my topoff reservior, I am always at 8.3-ish anyways, but it is a great timesaver and piece of mind-er when starting a new tank. HTH jp
