Welcome Fahim! The first advice most people will give you is to upgrade to full membership. It's only $20/year and you'll make that back on your first purchase from the for sale/trade area of the board or by participating in a group buy. (Those and other areas of the board are restricted to full members only.)

The second most important piece of advice would be to avoid going to the closest fish store for advice or accepting their recommendations for equipment purchases without checking with some more experienced reefers. Most of the local fish stores and their employees (WAMAS sponsors excluded) are not as educated as you might think and will do whatever it takes to separate you and your money. Do lots of reading and ask lots of questions on the board. You'll save a ton of money and avoid some very frustrating mistakes.

There are lots of members in your area and I'm sure someone will volunteer to drop by and offer advice or assistance. I work in the area (Bailey's Crossroads) and can stop by on the way home from work one day but I'm going to be on vacation until 9 July.

Do you have experience with freshwater fish or are you jumping straight into saltwater/reef? What hardware and other supplies were included with the setup? (type of lighting, skimmer, etc.)

Are you planning on attending the meeting on 23 June? This would be a great opportunity for you to meet some of the members and hit them up with questions! ;)

Thanks, YBnormal and treesprite. Glad to be on board. I thought I had signed on as a WAMAS member (I guess not). Where can I do that on here or who do I need to e-mail for that?

I've had Fresh water before. This is my first time with saltwater.

The other piece of hardware that I have are lighting (2 72" VHO, 1 175w 10k MH), I also have one mag 9.5 and a box of other misc. items. Still have to get my hands on another pump, a skimmer, a couple of powerheads, thermometer, and other essential equipment.

Baily's crossroad is about 7min from me. I would appreciate any help.

I'm not sure if I would be able to attend that meeting, but will try to catch the next one.

I went to one of the recommended LFS on here yesterday to get some bulk heads. John at BRK was very helpful. I'm slowly understanding the plumbing and will work on that today.

Oh... It's a manual process and it can take a few days for your membership status to get updated.
