steveoutlaw February 24, 2007 Share February 24, 2007 OK, I have a few pieces of live rock with nuisance polyps and some nuisance algea. I'd like to take them out and dip them in fresh, freezing, boiling, any kind of water and put them right back in the tank. What is the best way to get the nuisance stuff off so it won't grow back? Thanks.
Guest tgallo February 24, 2007 Share February 24, 2007 what ever you kill on the rock, if not removed /cleaned from the rock will cause a spike to your system.
miller February 24, 2007 Share February 24, 2007 i would jusat toss it outside for a few days. That will kill everything. As for adding it back in if its a bigger system and only a few small rocks you may be ok. Either way you might want to throw them into a container of tnak water with a powerhead for a few days before adding it back in just to be safe
steveoutlaw February 24, 2007 Author Share February 24, 2007 I have a 210g and was planning on boiling 50# of the 250# total rock. I would only do 1 per week and was only going to do a quick dip......just enough to kill the polyps. Do you think that would cause too much of a spike??? Almon February 24, 2007 Share February 24, 2007 I use a hose and spray nozzle with warm water. Pressure washing does wonders....
