jamal February 13, 2007 February 13, 2007 recently acquired some mandarins and will be getting some bartlett anthias along with the lyretails i have so i would like to get rid of the damsel before aggression becomes an issue. does anyone have a fish trap i could borrow or some other idea about getting rid of this little guy. if i can get him out alive and someone wants him they can have him for free
davelin315 February 13, 2007 February 13, 2007 Hey Jamal, I'll take him for school if you can catch him. There are lots of methods to try and catch him, but with damsels like that one method I have found that works well is to get a small dead coral head and put it in the tank. When the fish goes in, lift out the coral head and you've got it. It'll stay in the coral in order to stay away from harm. You can also use artificial corals. By the way, the yellow tail blue damsels are one of the least aggressive damsels in my experience. I always kept them in my reef pretty much no matter what and often had breeding pairs.
jamal February 13, 2007 Author February 13, 2007 its actually been pretty docile except for bucking at the clown and anthias but since it is another zooplankton feeder and the most aggressive of the ones i have i would rather he be gone then risk it. also if your school can house a green brittle star you are welcome to him as he is sitting in the sump right now
davelin315 February 14, 2007 February 14, 2007 Hey Jamal, I'll take both! We actually have one green brittle star that is in a sump already waiting for me to finish off a touch tank so that would be great! Where are you located in DC?
