I need a temperature based switch to turn my fan on and off in my light hood. I sure someone has already figured out the cheap way to do this, but I am not finding any good results.

Anyone have any idea's?

Here is my question, how where do you put the thermostat so that it's reading temp of your tank, and knows when to turn the fans on and off?

The thermostat is designed to sense the ambient air temperature. If I mount it in my hood, and set it so sense when things get warm, then it turns on the fan, and cools down the hood. In theory it should work great. In practice, we'll see...
