I was thinking of picking up a ph monitor for my tank. Who's got em, and which brand do you recommend?

ARE pinpoint marine monitors worth the money? what about the milwaukee brand I have started seeing lately?

I just asked this same question and this was the only response I got.

"Pinpoint is a better brand. If it was me though i would buy the Reef Keeper two and control the entire tank and ph"

I just set up a Neptune AquaController II on my tank. I had to get new probes so I can't speak much on them. Since I am using them to control my calcium reactor, I would say they are indispensable (for me at least). If you are using them for control purposes definitely go for a better (more expensive) probe. Also you have to periodically recalibrate them. According to John at BRK the Neptune lab grade models require monthly calibration. Again, I haven't set mine up yet but John did a lot of research before he set up the controllers for his shop so I trust his opinion on the matter.

You should really calibrate any pH probe monthly. You will be amazed how quickly they drift off. If you're going to spend the money on a probe, spend the money on calibration fluid. If you do calibrate frequently, I think they're equally good. Milwaukees have a lesser reputation than Pinpoints, but I think that is more for the controllers than the actual probes. If you're thinking of getting a probe, it is a good time to ask if you'd like to spend the extra $200 and get a whole controller like an RK2 or an AC Jr.

I should add that I'm too lazy to calibrate monthly. But that's what I SHOULD do.
