ctreptow December 23, 2006 December 23, 2006 Hi All I just broke down one of my 75G tanks so I can drill it and start over. When I picked it up I had salt creep under the tank. Is this a problem.. I sign of a leak or just the pervasiceness of salt? Should I use this tank or replace it? Chris
flowerseller December 23, 2006 December 23, 2006 Unless you are aware of a contant additions of more water than you think it should have needed, I would assume it just a build up of salt from when you had your hands in the tank and it ran down the sides.
fab December 24, 2006 December 24, 2006 Simply test the tank. Clean it. Dry it. Put it on spacers above some cardboard so you can see under the tank. Fill it without spilling any water. Let it sit for several hours. See if there is any water under the tank or any discoloration of the cardboard. If so, it leaks. If not, it probably doesn't. If you are a skeptic, let it sit for more time. Often times a simple experiment takes the guess work out of an unknown situation. fab
