rioreef October 7, 2006 October 7, 2006 Does anyone know if Lowes carries 1/4 " RO tubing? I don't want the the semi-translucent 1/4" tubing that have at HD (checked that out at the one in Ashburn) but, the totally white or other color. Chris

Chris I'm looking for the same and have scoured all of the local plumbing supply places. All they carry is the poly tubing for icemakers. ~Bob
rioreef October 7, 2006 Author October 7, 2006 That what I have encountered. I don't want to have any light penetration as to the possibility of growth on the inside of the tubing. Looks like I will order online somewhere.

Chris Dr. Foster's has a good deal http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod...p;N=2004+113773 plus there is a coupon code for $8.00 off if you spend $50 + (on slick deals if you google it)
rioreef October 16, 2006 Author October 16, 2006 I ended up getting the tubing, fittings and a float valve from "The Filter Guys" online store. The John Guest tubing was only 10 cents per foot and in a variety of colors. Cheaper than Dr. Fosters. Thanks for the response.
scarletknight06 October 17, 2006 October 17, 2006 I've used the polythylene tubing lowes sells. It works fine. If you're using it on an RODI unit, the unit should have removed everything that would allow algae growth, so light shouldnt matter. I could be wrong though. The simple solution is to wrap the tubing in duct tape or electric tape if you're concerned though. I've even used the stuff (and seen others use it for the same application with no problems either) for input and output of my calcium reactor and top off line, both of which were exposed to light and I never had any algae grow in the line that I could tell
YBeNormal October 17, 2006 October 17, 2006 I relocated my filter unit to the tank room a few weeks ago using poly tubing sold by Lowes then made another run back to the RO storage tank under the sink in the original location. While short sections of the cheap poly tubing have little or no effect on the taste of the RO water, two 20'-25'long runs result in a noticeable plastic aftertaste to the water and the family is not happy. I had hoped to find some of the plastic RO tubing locally to use in place of the stuff from Lowes but I guess I'll have to break down and order it online.
