i think you should try, many members including myself sell rbta's, unfortunately i have none at the moment.
in the past i was able to raise regular bta's under 55 watt pc. just my 2 cents.

i assume that you will be staying put for a long time. only issue i see is if you move in the near future

the pics do no justice, its a fantastic piece.

not sure how a ato works, but could the sensor be dirty? i use a tunze ato and ocassionally need to soak the sensor due to calcium build up

Almon, great idea, however with the amount of time it takes and the dedication, its tough.
i have a breeding pair of percula's. i could dontate the eggs but dont have the time to dedicate to raising the fry.

What ballast are you running?
It sounds like you are on an Aquamedic fixture if it had AB's in it. I would pick up some 14k Phoenix's or those buy one get one's off of Marinedepot right now.
You will be amazed with how much better color you get, and the "whiter" light vs. yellow.
running them on a geiselmann (sp?) ballast

place a mirror in front of your tank for a few days

what about the mods that you can do with the asm's such as the impellar and gate mod?
does the mod imporve their performance?
-
i would stop gravity feeding the skimmer, if you contact deltec they will state that its better to have a constant flow from a pump. i believe you want max 250 gal per hour pump, i use a mag 2.
not sure why it just started happen though. good luck
-
i also have the same skimmer. thats odd, once you get it set you shouldnt have to adjust it.
any reason you turn off the skimmer for feeding?
i have my air intake at the full to 1:00 position, and adjust the water output. what to do you use for the feed pump? if gravity feed that may be your issue.

+1 on the mirror, worked for my achilles when i introduced 2 angels, however my hippo, my oldest fish, still gets harrased out of all my others.
-
where is July's TOTM?
-
for what its worth, i also heard that you can do water changes through your skimmer if you get it super wet.
i guess the logic is that it removes all the "bad" water.
-
The only time I have seen something like that it was on a clownfish and it died shortly after. I hope its pregnant.
+1, dropsy?
-
if you need an external pump, i have an iwaki 30 you could use in the mean time.
i live near wooten hs

what store has it? too bad it not colorful, but at least they are willing to being them in.
wiling to take a look

What's the diameter of the impeller and how many layers does the mod call for?
not quite sure, uses a sendra 5000 pump though
just bought a mesh mod kit on ebay for $6 total
-
are you going to run any other pumps?
i have a japanese iwaki 30 rt and rlt available, imo i think they are reasonable quiet
-
Forrest, my first mesh mod was done with material from a grill cleaner that I got from Home Depot. It basically looked like some pretty coarse Scotch Brite.
Guppychao, I have some P4 Enkamat at home. What are you modding and how much do you need? I picked a square of it up a year ago off ebay.
my bio load picked up and need to mod my asm g3, since i dont have the funds for a nicer skimmer.

meeee ive got some come get some with ur blue star polyps lol
lol that would be nice, one of these day

next time try to place a mirror in front of the tank.
i did that when i introduced new fish to my tank, and my achilles was such a brute. placed a mirror in front and he/she was preoccupied with themself that he only attacked the mirror, quite funny, i think he eventually got tired. but now my tank is pretty peaceful, still attacks the hippo when he goes pyscho.

from reef central:
Carrying a Slightly Lower Salinity in the Tank Lessens Disease
This bogus information seems to be perpetuated by the pet shop trade. The exact source of the myth is unknown, but it seems to have started in the early 1980s. I have been told it may have originated in an article by Herbert Axelrod, but cannot confirm. No matter, the concept that keeping a marine aquarium at lowered salinity, with specific gravity of ~1.019, is commonly cited as helping to prevent disease outbreaks in saltwater fish.
This idea has never been proven to help fish in any way. A specific gravity of 1.019 is far short of the level of 1.009 needed to combat ich during hyposalinity treatment. The practice may save some money for the fish supplier in it requires less salt, but it does not prevent disease. Although it doesn
How many Tangs?
in General Discussion
in my 180, i have a hippo, purple, achilles, blonde naso, and added them in that order.
the achilles attacked the hippo for about 3 months, and now each is a model citzen. occassionally the purple and achilles will now get at each other, but strangley enough, the hippo now bothers the achilles.
