  1. Good info. Thanks
  2. My Current USA eflux pump just randomly died. Was clean and didn’t expect. About year and a half old. Not happy about. Tank is running with 3 pumps and heater in tank currently. So I need to get return pump replaced asap. I have an apex. Anyone have a preference on higher end return pumps? I have a redsea 450. Ecotech, Sicci or maybe Neptune or redsea? Curious as to what people prefer. Have to order tomorrow.
  3. My filters are bad and I ordered new ones but I am in need of RODI water asap. Anyone near burke Va area able to give me 10 gallons of water or more. Would really appreciate any help. I am unable to use my water right now.
  4. I saw this on a YouTube channel for reef aquariums and says it acts like actived carbon but better.
  5. The main difference through my research is food grade vs pharmaceutical grade. BRS is going to mix better because it is a higher grade. You really have to check labels to make sure there are no additives. But I believe if it says 100% soda ash and that it’s food grade it works the same just mixes a bit differently. If it’s 1/4 the price or greater then it’s a huge savings. BRS has built their empire on something this simple. Basically charging 4x the amount, but kudos to them. Because nobody else doing it. They do have the best two part mix in my opinion, but there are cheaper options. I’m just curious if anyone is or has done the DIY. I think there are much better options to buy as to 10-15 years ago. Another option would be to do a group buy. Buy 50 pound 100% food grade bags and divide. Would be dirt cheap.
  6. Has anyone done DIY two part? Such as buying and using food grade say vs using BRS powder. Seems that you could save a lot of money but worry about trying something I haven’t done before that’s not geared for aquarium. on Amazon for instance they sell Calcium Chloride and Soda Ash much cheaper than BRS.
  7. Trying to catch a purple tang. Anyone have a trap near burke I could burrow. Would really appreciate it. -Andrew
  8. Looking for buckets but will take boxes. Like 1-2. If I can’t find locally I’ll buy online
  9. Does any vendor in the DMV carry this?
  10. Don’t judge me. Bought this at Petco out of all places. Was a bit taken back they had this. Has about 20 polyps. Any idea as to what this is. Anyone have a name for this? Thought it was a good find.
  11. I think I’ll just have to deal with. It amazes me that a tank with glass as thick as this has a water line that’s basically impossible to remove. Salt can do wonders.
  12. Thanks for comments. I tried razor blade. And tank is really clean now. I’m surprised the water line won’t go away. Im sure once water is in the tank you won’t notice much.
  13. Anyone know how to remove a hard water line on an older tank? Glass I have is in great shape but I can’t remove the hard water stain. I tried vinegar and citric acid. Didn’t do much. Was thinking about applying Muriatic acid. Any help would be appreciated.
  14. Any one use Syn-Biotic Sea Salt Mix. I was thinking about using this salt to start new tank and then possibly moving back to TM reef salt mix. Wondering if the Biotic mix is worth it.
  15. Sounds good
