  1. Yea. you're right. I saw forums talking about how I can't retrofit a dimmer.
  2. I am thinking of the following LRS power supply. https://www.ledsupply.com/power-supplies/mean-well-lrs-enclosed or the dimmable PWM-120-36 https://www.ledsupply.com/power-supplies/mean-well-pwm-series
  3. Thanks for your reply. Should I try to get a meanwell power supply? Will that be more reliable than just any random 36 power supply? If so, what gauge wire should I buy?
  4. Not sure why the screenshot did not attach. You can see the junction under "unobtrusive and waterproof wire" on the website. https://ultumnaturesystems.com/titan-1/#specs It is basically a male-female 2 pin or 3 pin core plug. https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256806574611820.html?src=google&pdp_npi=4%40dis!USD!2.26!1.36!!!!!%40!12000038215479205!ppc!!!&src=google&albch=shopping&acnt=708-803-3821&isdl=y&slnk=&plac=&mtctp=&albbt=Google_7_shopping&aff_platform=google&aff_short_key=UneMJZVf&gclsrc=aw.ds&albagn=888888&ds_e_adid=&ds_e_matchtype=&ds_e_device=c&ds_e_network=x&ds_e_product_group_id=&ds_e_product_id=en3256806574611820&ds_e_product_merchant_id=107886837&ds_e_product_country=US&ds_e_product_language=en&ds_e_product_channel=online&ds_e_product_store_id=&ds_url_v=2&albcp=19108228023&albag=&isSmbAutoCall=false&needSmbHouyi=false&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAjp-7BhBZEiwAmh9rBYe1amwOHJR7xdd9QsrF3l6LSrACdMxT1iZArfXAltmafpoFtM2MNhoCYg0QAvD_BwE&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa
  5. I would like to know if this is a safe and doable DIY. Engineer with basic electrical soldering skills here. I saw this ad for an used UNS titan light. Catch is that the junction seems to have burnt on the inside but the lamp works fine. It comes with a 36V, 4A power supply https://ultumnaturesystems.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/TITAN-INSTRUCTIONS.pdf Is replacing the entire power supply easy and adding a kill-a-watt monitor worth it? Or should I just not buy it?
  6. I had an aiptasia problem and so I had to add a peppermint shrimp. Current livestock are Cerith snails 10 and Trochus snails 5.
  7. @dfos00 GSP and red mushroom and also gorgonian?
  8. Yellow star polyp and waving anthelia from @Kathryn Lawson Candy cane and mushroom from @BigLos
  9. Here are some updates of the tank. Huge thanks to @gastone for giving me the protein skimmer and toadstool frag "Nate". Macroalgae and Purple gorgonian from @ReeferMan
  10. Great tank. Would love to stop by and check it out sometime.
  11. Love the clowns and the set up!
  12. Thank you. Will ramp the blues up to 50% Would definitely love to work with the skimmer. Will message you to figure it out.
  13. Hi guys, After being a WAMAS member for almost five-plus years, I finally started my first salt water tank. I need to thank @telegraham for all his posts/message replies on instagram and @gastone for taking time to reply to my questions. Here is the set up. 17.1 g Landen 60P 23.6x11.8x14.2 (bought used) Imagitarium 30g stand (bought used from Second Chance, Baltimore) 200W heater Jebao ELW-5 3000L/hr wave maker Generic HOB filter with sponge and some ceramic rings - might upgrade to a canister or hygger HOB based on bioload. ~20lb of cured live rock from an established tank Nicrew 150W light (bought used) I bought the Nicrew controller to tune the white and blue LEDs in 5% increments. CaribSea Natural Reef 16 lb sand. Here are a couple of pics of the tank. I would appreciate your thoughts on the following. 1. After 2 weeks, I will start adding astrea snails. Also looking for some frags. Please lmk if you have any. 2. Is my lighting schedule okay? I would ideally get in line for the WAMAS PAR meter. I want to know that I don't have it too high to fry up the tank. I ramp it between 0 and 20% for the whites and blues. 3. Any good clean-up crew suggestions? Thanks.
  14. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Falken-Design-12-in-W-x-24-in-L-x-0-25-in-T-Clear-Twin-Wall-Polycarbonate-Sheet-MW-CL-1-4-1224/316676672 Considering this as the lid for my 17g landen 60P set up. Data spec sheet from another seller suggests that ~6mm will result in 80% light transmission. Should I consider a simple glass top instead (acrylic warps badly)? Also, how do I prevent algae from growing b/w the walls? Just sliding U-channels would help? https://www.homedepot.com/p/Thermoclear-5-8-in-x-96-in-x-5-8-in-16mm-Polycarbonate-Multi-Wall-U-Channel-PCTWU-16MM/205202538
  15. Thank you for the suggestion on avoiding anemone. I might stick to that. Is this the Florida aquacultured one?https://tbsaltwater.com/ Kalkwasser ATO is a great idea. Will work on it once I get the setup running. Thanks on the life stock. I will stick to it. Appreciate if you have a budget lighting option. I am not a big fan of the AB/blue option. I prefer daylight with some blues.
  16. My budget for the corals + livestock is $300. I am planning on getting 2' quanta reef crest daylight light.
  17. Hi guys, I am planning on setting up my first saltwater tank. I plan to use ~20-lb rock and a simple HOB filter. I don't plan to dose but will do a weekly 3-5g water change. Questions. 1. What stocking will work for this setup/maintenance? (softies/anemone/LPS) 2. How many frags should I start with? 3. What livestock/inverts should I get?
  18. Thanks for the reply. I am thinking of moon jellyfish or marbled jellyfish, to begin with. I looked at Jellyfish Art - the tanks are not my style. I was drawn to the ones from https://exotic-aqua.com/shop/ But I wonder if a canister filter would be enough to filter the system. I would appreciate experiences from hobbyists who have kept moon jellyfish as well. How many can I raise to adulthood in a 17L tank?
  19. Hi folks, I am in Baltimore area and I want to get into jelly fish keeping. Any suggestions on websites to buy tanks and jelly fish from?
  20. Yea. Thanks for the suggestion. Will look into it.
  21. Thank you. That is helpful. I am thinking of splurging on lights with AI prime. Would appreciate other options if they are better.
  22. Lovely tank. Would you please share your weekly maintenance schedule? Assuming small tanks require regular water changes. I am new to saltwater and I am used to freshwater where you can even do 100% WC per week :D .
  23. Hi, I am new to the saltwater hobby. I have experience caring for discus (70g) and high-tech (40g) planted tank FS setups. I am enamored by videos of Danny's aquarium and am keen on starting with a saltwater (coral) tank that is relatively low-tech (canister or hang-on-back filter or no filter, light, regular water changes). Would you have any thoughts to share on this? Option 1: My best shot would be all-in-one tanks and preferably a used setup so I can also get the corals. I prefer that over a setup from scratch mainly because every mistake setting up and establishing the tank is extremely expensive. Option 2: Go with a clownfish and anemone set up—still 30g max.
  24. It did the job! Planning to sand the overflow to remove the silicone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
