  1. To make a long story short. I sold 2 bubble tips, a green and a rainbow to a friend back in Nov 2107. Early March they sent me a pic and said they were going to toss the rainbow becasue they were pretty sure it was dead. They also told me the green one was starting to die as well. I told them to bring them back to me and I will try and revive them. I wish I had taken more pics along the way. I think the few that I do have are good enough to show the progress.

The reason why I thought I could save them was a few years ago I had a neon green carpet that got sick. It stopped eating completely and it's mouth swelled up. Being a newbie, before I even new WAMAS existed, I decided to try and force fed it. I would literally put squid in it's mouth and force it in with my finger. I did the every few days for about a month and it recovered and is still doing great to this day.

Back the the BTAs. I figured i would try something similar. So here is a pic of the rainbow day before being delivered back to me in early March.

I wish I had a starting pic of the green, It was not as bad, probably because it was 2x the size of the rainbow. It still had some tentacles.  The rainbow was not attached when it arrived and the would not attach when I put it in the recovery tank (not a good sign). I built a small shelter with some rock to hopefully keep it from blowing into a powerhead in the first hour.

The tank was a 60 gal frag tank bare bottom. Inhabitants were 1 small damsel, several rocks, 1 pincushion urchin. 2 mussels, another rainbow was in the tank part of the recovery and few shrooms. Light is BB.

    Let the feeding begin..

Every 2 days I would put a very tiny piece of squid or shrimp into the mouth of the rainbow with a tweezer. I had to force it in because it did not have any tentacles to hold it.  The green one had tentacles but still had a hard time hold the small pieces of squid. I would manually close the rim around the food and that seemed to help with the green one. I used a tweezer because of the size of the BTAs and the size of the food.

  2. You can dip in coral RX or bayer pest killer (my fav). Important! if you have other monti's in the tank they most likely have them as well, even if you don't see them yet. Dip them. If you lose that piece of red cap I will give you a pest free one for free. I have a ton of in. You just need to pick it up..  PM me if interested. Like fish, corals need to be quarantined to try and spot stuff like this...

  3. nudi

That piece is going to be hard to save. Looking at the piece I would try and clip off all the dead white around the rims that is where the live nudi's are. Then dip because the eggs are under usually on the underside. You will need to dip multiple times.

  4. You have Monti eating nudibranchs . I can see them in the photos in the white areas. You need to dip the piece. They are very tough to get rid of. You will need to dip multiple times over the course of several weeks. If you have other monti's in the tank they will need to dipped as well.

  5. I did not know there was a WAMAS 3 years ago. Well I supposed it is good to be first in something,.  Joking aside, does the article say that Xenia can absorb the toxin? I was not clear on that.,,.. I thought it was only P/Z/s that contained the poison..

  6. Any advice for handling HCL. Getting ready to make a new batch with HCL. Unscrewed the cap on the HCL with safety glasses and rubber gloves and the vapors were very strong! Put the cap back on and decided to ask before using. Been awhile since chemistry in college..

  7. I used a web based design and print company to print the bushings for Jabao power heads in acrylic vs the ceramic ones that come with the pumps and seemingly impossible to reorder. I believe some of them are still in my last few working pumps. Getting the center hole smooth and perfect was hit or miss. I think bigger things like brackets might be a better use for now

  8. Okay got it. Worked my way up the chain of sockets and one of my sockets with an EB4 was the problem.  everything else above tht socket has turned on now. Now I just need to figure out which of the 4 items is causing the fault.

  9. So this morning a GFI was triggered on one of my 3 dedicated fishroom circuits. Nothing seemed out if the ordinary, floods, power outages etc... I tried to reset, the power flicks on for a second and turns off. Did a quick visual inspection of all the the devices running on the GFI and nothing is wet, all of my sockets have outdoor waterproof boxes around them. everything that is not above tank height have has drip lines and everything above the tank are in cabinets.

I figured the GFI was just broken ( I have had this happen before on an outdoor GFI). Ran to HD got a new one and replaced, same thing. Next step? Do i need to unplug everything everything from the sockets and if it works then plug each powerhead light etc one by one? Thoughts..

  10. T247 B, Nothing even close in that price range. I only run LED's on all my corals(SPS,LPS,Softies, nems, fuge, and Mangroves) I have 19 LED's T247 B, Radion, and Black boxes.  I have tried T5 and Halides ( to many bulb replacements for me)  Just my humble opinion I am sure others have there fav's

  11. No clue why they are growing so fast. It's still in the original spot when I had them all in the tank. For some reason my Z's are growing very fast lately. There are red hornets next to this plug that have doubled in 3 weeks, they are usually slow growers. I know at least one other person has multiple heads. I don't feed zoas and there are only 3 fish in that 8 ft frag tank.. I also don't use any supplements.
