RoDi/Rubbermaid questions please help
Aquaknott replied to nextlevel808's topic in General Discussion
I have a similar setup, using too rubbermaid trash cans for my system. 1 can is used to have the RODI fill then I pump it into the second tank where I mix my salt. I keep both tanks heatd to a desired temp that way the water is always similar to the tanks I would use the water in. I also keep up with Salinity in my salt tank of course. In addition I also keep a pump in the salt tank to keep the water circulatign adn help with the mixing. I do check my tds in my first tank to make sure I know what its coming out of my RODI system. Yes there is a meter on my output of my RODI i just like to make sure. -

Can I Remove the Center Braces on this 110G

I attached a link to the stand me and a frend built recently. It has pics of how we framed it. I would strongly recommend including the inside bracing like you see in our pics. I would also recommed using bigger screws. We used 4inch flat head deck screws. Our stand is very stable and as you can see does not have a middle support. We did put it in the back however not having one in the front allowed for the sump to easily com in and out. http://wamas.org/forums/topic/71305-my-90g-tank-stand/ -
High nitrates in my biocube29? Maybe not sure

I am looking at upgrading the lights that are in the hood of the Bio. It's between a puc style led retro fit or remove my hood altogether and do a hanging led with controller. Haven't decided yet. -

It was a BTA it was very nice and seemed to be doing well for a while. I came home the other day and found it entangled in my power head. It was very upsetting. -

High nitrates in my biocube29? Maybe not sure

One thing I left out is that while I was trying to figure out the issue that was causing my high Nitrates I found that my phosphates were through the roof. Once I figured that out and did the clean out of my middle compartment things started turning around for me... I tried a ton of things trying to figure out the cause and never thought about my phosphates could be impacting my nitrates as well. -

So I have a Bio29 and I was having issue with Nitrates as well. I had removed the bio balls and replaced them with broken coral fragments in the midddle compartment. What I found out was that my fish poop and other waste material that mde it through the filters was collecting in there causing my nitrates to increase. In the end what I did was add Denitrate in a media bag and put it in the bottom of that section. I also added a bag of chemipure blue. I have been running this way for the last 3 -4 weeks and my nitrates have stabiled alot. My water still flows through a filter pad before it hits that compartment to pick up big stuff I dont use the BioCube carbon media filters anymore. My corals look a lot happier. DISCLAIMER: I am no expert but I have learned through lots of trial and error. I continue to learn everyday.. I hope this helps.... LOL -
It looks great man.

I have two 30 gallon Rubbermaid cans. One I keep filled with RODI the other I keep filled with a salt mixture. I have heaters in both tanks and circulation pumps in both as well. That way I have either ready and at a Temp I can use without worry about shocking g my fish..

Yes I go to Blue Ribbon Koi quite frequently. John and the other guys have helped me out a lot. I just recently discovered Incredible Corals and those guys have been great too. -
Hello everyone I just joined the sight. I have been in aquariums for a couple of years but I am still learning a lot. I have a 29 gallon bio cube as well as another small 20 gallon L tank. I am about to upgrade my 20L to a new 40 breeder but I am working to finish helping a friend get his new 90 gallon ready first. Anyway I look forward to chatting with you all and learning more stuff to get my tanks to look amazing.
