  1. Tank is a 40 breeder sump is roughly 15 gallons. I run evergrow it2080 LEDs at 50% max. (Still slowly aclimating the tank to the lights after 2 months) as far as a clean up crew I have 12 snails (turbo and nassaris) I had some crabs but they seem to have disappeared. Btw thanks to Chuck (flooddc) I have bought a new skimmer. Sent from my SM-T217S using Tapatalk
  2. Ok. Thanks chuck.
  3. Any body have expierence good or bad with this skimmer? I'm using it on a 40B mixed. http://www.reefdynamics.com/INS80-Protein-Skimmer-p/ins80.htm
  4. Seems to me that I need to get more snails and a bunch of hermit crabs to take care of cleaning my tank. I wish I could find a highly rated used skimmer for a decent price
  5. Sharkey18 I don't have a full equipment pic on my phone. Should be able to get one this afternoon. Basically I have a CPR over flow that goes to my eshops sump. The sump only has 2 sections so in the larger section I have my chateo and my skimmer then the water goes to the second section where the pump for my BRS GFO and carbon reactor is and the return pump for my display. My skimmer is a coral life 125 and I'm pretty sure this thing doesn't work well because I only have to dump the collection cup once a week.
  6. Smallreef I have 1 Pseudochromis about 12 snails and a emerald crab I haven't seen in weeks. I feed about every 3 days and it's only a tiny little pinch.
  7. Lol ok. I just don't get why my algae is so bad. My tank has been up for 10 months. I'm running a carbon and GFO reactor and my phosphate levels are extremely low.
  8. Ok so im assuming the Vermetid is ok in the tank? Is there away to get rid of the micro algae? Sent from my SM-T217S using Tapatalk
  9. Can some one tell me what the stringy stuff is and what the tiny red and white things are? Heres what I got Sent from my SM-T217S using Tapatalk
  10. Ok thanks guys. He is only aggressive towards new members.
  11. I have a 40 gallon breeder reef tank with a beautiful Purple Pseudochromis. The problem? My Pseudochromis is mean as heck to the point that I can't have any other fish. So do any of you guys want him or have any ideas what I can do with him?
  12. The only photo I can get on here is my profile pic. I can't figure out how to post them in this thread. Glad there is fellow rednecks on here!!
  13. LOL I am literally 3 minutes from Richard we met a few months ago. He is a great guy and has given me some good advise!
  14. Thanks. I'm in southern Frederick county Md. As far as pictures go as soon I as figure out how to get them on here I will do it. (I am a bit of a dumb redneck)
  15. Wanted to introduce myself to the forum since I'm a new member and a new reefer. I guess I will tell you how I started and how far I have come. About 2 years ago I had a pretty successful and not so challenging planted freshwater tank and I began watching TV shows about saltwater fish tanks. I quickly realized the fish only tanks they were building were awesome but not as great as they could be. So I began researching reef tanks and all that was involved. I had a ok understanding but have now realized its way more in depth than I originally thought. Anyways I bought my tank from craigslist its a 40 gallon breeder and the person who sold it to me gave me live sand, dry rock, a coralife 125 skimmer, heater, lights, and power heads all for 200 bucks. I then was able to find a spectrapure RO/DI system and went from there. I quickly learned that a sump would be a good idea and was able to get the one from the guy I bought the tank from. Only issue was my skimmer didn't fit under the stand, so I built my own. I now have a CPR over flow going in to schedule 40 pipe to my sump below that holds my heater, skimmer, chaetoe algae, pump for my recently purchased GFO/Carbon reactor, and my return pump. I am definitely now where near where I want to be with my tank now but it is a learning process and trust me I have learned the hard way on a few things. As far as live stock goes I have a few small ZOAs a few Kenya trees, and a green star polyp. I also have a beautiful but mean purple pseudochromis and two fire fish along with a dozen snails and a emerald green crab. Anyways I look forward to talking with you all in the future and gaining knowledge and advice from you.
