  1. I like the tunze a lot but much prefer the flipper. I still mess up the "flip" every now an then but its a solid product. I also have the algae free which I should probably post in the FS section because it just sits off to the side. I make sure to store all of my glass cleaners out of the tank in between uses to ensure nothing gets on the pads that could scratch the glass.

  2. Getting some nice growth there.

    Very nice

    Love it

    Awesome!!

Thanks guys. I have really enjoyed the much simpler approach since the mini crash and have surprised even myself with the urge to resist tinkering with the tank. Stability is definitely the key in this hobby and not having a knee jerk reaction when something isn't going your way.

  3. The tank and I have been on somewhat of an autopilot. The male Bellus has great color and there is clearly a pecking order between him and the other two females.  There has been no fighting between them and I expect it to stay that way.  The Haddoni is nice and happy.  It has not moved since being introduced and has left my fish alone or they are just smart enough to stay away. It is super sticky.  The clowns still want nothing to do with it.  I have seen nice growth from many of the corals and can't wait until they really fill in the tank.  I may add some more frags to fill in some areas.

At this point I have also had the Regal for over a year and I am happy to report that it eats EVERYTHING!  It was a little touch and go at the very beginning but I firmly believe that introducing it to the display immediately helped it learn from the other fish as to what was nice and tasty.  I no longer have a clam or zoas but I look at it as a small price to pay for having such a beautiful fish.

  4. I added t5 to my mid day lighting schedule to help with some shadowing. They run for 6 hours a day and I did not change anything with my LEDs. Everything responded well at least for me. I already run mine at close to 100%. Why not just turn up your LEDs before trying the t5s if you want more light?

  5. I like the Regal angel. How long have you had him and how big is he?

I have had the Regal about 8 months now and he is roughly 5 inches and a great fish. He came in a little skinny and took a few days before he was eating with vigor. Mussells on the half shell is what he initially took to and now eats everything including pellets and the new era grazer and filled out nicely. I had to get rid of my clam because he went after it and he also keeps my zoas in check.

  6. wow! Looking good Tony. After looking at that Haddoni I feel like I need an anemone only tank :). love the angels and the flower petal looks nice. Let me know if you ever decide to frag that one.

I have been thinking about one setting one up because of that nem. In the summer I want to try and raise the clown fry and would set up a harem tank. There is just something about a tank full of clowns and nems.

  7. Continuing to document the change.  My photo skills are not good enough to capture the colors of this fish.  The yellow is starting to show on the lateral line of the fish.

  8. These ladies are very camera shy.  This was the best shot that I could get that shows the difference in color between the one changing and the smaller females.  In person the contrast is much more apparent but you can see the color starting to change for sure.

The Haddoni has been doing very well and has been fed once a week.  The clowns completely ignore it even though they are less than 8 inches away from it.

  9. Good to hear Tony. Post some more pics when you get a chance.

I am charging up the camera right now and will post some pics later today.

Hey Tony! How about an update?

Everything is going well but the latest update is that my largest female bellus has started the transition to male.  I thought she had started towards the end of last summer but when I added the Regal it completely halted to process.  Her black coloring darkened back up and the blue was even more prominent.  Now the black is very faded along with the blue and the yellow is starting to show.  Aggression hasn't changed between the three but there is very much a hierarchy that has been maintained.

  10. Any updates?

I have been really busy with work lately but the tank is doing well.  Since my last update I was able to get my Masterflex pump up and running pulling the effluent through the CaRX.  Since that has been running the PH in the CaRX has been steady as a rock.  I had previously been running it off of a manifold which would require adjustments every now and then.  I should have done this from the get go.  Coral growth has continued to be nice and steady.

I have also taken the GFO offline and seen much greater growth in the macro algae.  The fuge is being lit 24/7 by the red biased LED horticultural light.  The system seems to have settled into its own since the Zeovit was taken off line late last year.  Filter socks have also been taken offline.  Changing them out every three days just wasn't going to work with my schedule lately and at this point, they will probably remain off.

  11. Anybody have thoughts on what I may expect adding a regal angel to this setup? Pros or cons as you see it from similar experience? Thanks

If you wanted a regal that should have gone in before the tangs. I would agree with Isaac and Seth, you are maxed out for big fish in that tank.

The regal is tricky at best to get eating and with two pretty aggressive tangs in a relatively small tank (for multiple tangs) I imagine he would get bullied easily.
